links that work
- the full link: tiktok.com/@name/video/…
- the short link tiktok gives you when you tap share or copy link (vm.tiktok.com/…). postpalm follows it to the real video.
save one video
- in tiktok, open the video.
- tap the share arrow.
- choose copy link, or pick postpalm from the share options if you see it. if postpalm isn't in that row, scroll the row and tap more to turn it on.
- if you copied the link, open postpalm and use add link.
what gets saved
- the video file with its sound. in your grid it loops quietly, and when you open it, it plays full screen.
- photo posts: every photo.
- the caption, the poster's name, handle and profile picture.
- the original link, cleaned of its tracking code.
how it looks when you open it
videos open in a full-screen player with the caption and the poster at the bottom. use the speaker button to mute or unmute. when you unmute, music playing from another app pauses, and it resumes when you mute or close the video. see videos and sound.
what is not saved
- comments and likes.
- private videos, or videos tiktok no longer shows publicly.
why tiktok saves go through our server
tiktok doesn't let a phone download its videos directly. postpalm's server fetches the public video and passes the file to your phone. the server doesn't keep it. see privacy and your data.
troubleshooting
- the save didn't finish: tiktok sometimes refuses downloads for a short while. the post waits in your library as a saving… card and postpalm tries again by itself. tap it to try again now.
- "couldn't save this": check that the link opens a single public video.
important
only save videos you have permission to keep, and follow tiktok's terms of use.
